All Smiles at Car-Free Day

Sunday, August 19th was full of big smiles, delicious smells, and sweet sounds down on St. Johns street, but it did lack one thing: Cars! Port Moody’s Car-Free Day 2018 brought out crowds in full force and the Kinsight team was there all day with facepainting and a photobooth. Kids took pictures as foxes and tigers, butterflies and batman, and monsters with mustaches!

“Car-free days take place across the country and aim to inspire

people to get out of their cars, interact with each other, and explore

alternative modes of transportation.” –City of Port Moody

We had so much fun taking pictures and talking about Kinsight with families and individuals that came by our tent. It was a wonderful opportunity to pause and chat with the community, bringing in familiar faces and new ones alike!

We were excited to reconnect with a family, kids now aged 9, who attended our Infant Development Program’s Multiples Group years ago.  Reflecting back on the connections and influences maintained from our time shared with the family was a meaningful reminder as to why we do what we do. Thank you to all our volunteers and our visitors for such a great afternoon.
