Kinsight update 031720

********************************************************

March 12, 2020

Families and Caregivers,

We would like to take this opportunity to share with you the various measures we are taking to address to address the COVID-19 virus outbreak.

  • We are in regular communication with our funders and closely monitoring all public health information.
  • We are implementing all required health and safety measures based on the recommendations from various international, national and provincial authorities.
  • We have reviewed our health and safety protocols in all of our locations, including the re-posting of universal precautions.
  • We have communicated with all Kinsight staff, outlining Fraser Health and the BC Centre for Disease Control’s protocols for individuals who have recently returned from travel and appropriate measures for keeping themselves and others safe.
  • We are postponing some group activities that were scheduled for the Spring Break period. If you or a family member is planning to attend one of our playgroups, parent networking sessions, or group events the staff that host and facilitate the program will be in touch with you with more information.

What you can do:

If you or a family member are sick, including if you are taking medications to mask symptoms (such as fever, coughing or shortness of breath), or if you have recently returned from a region under a travel advisory, please let us know. Call or email your staff contact and they will work with you to work out an alternate way to support you.

The latest travel advisory information can be found on the link below.

If you have concerns about your health, or the health of those in your household, please contact your medical professional / 811 (provincial health information line) or 711 (provincial health information line for deaf or hard of hearing) to discuss the symptoms and inform your staff contact immediately.

While COVID-19 is mild in most cases, people with underlying medical conditions are at most risk. So while you or your family member may not be too unwell, other families and people with whom we work may be at risk.

We will be sure to keep you updated of any further measures Kinsight is taking that may impact our services or procedures. This may include staff phoning families in advance of their appointments in homes or the community to ensure we minimize any health risks.

Kinsight recognizes that this situation is constantly evolving, and our team is committed to staying informed about the situation, taking our guidance from public health agencies and implementing measures to prevent the spread of illness.
