Kinsight receives Lighthouse Organizations Fund grant of nearly $1 million
2024 fund enables charitable organization to address poverty and social inclusion
Kinsight is pleased to share that we have been selected as a recipient of the Vancouver Foundation’s Lighthouse Organizations Fund that will provide nearly $1 million to help advance Kinsight’s work.
The Lighthouse Organizations Fund, made possible through the Government of BC, is designed to support organizations that are working to reduce poverty and enhance social inclusion. Kinsight is one of the charitable organizations that has been selected to receive grants of $993,000 over the next three years.
“We are so grateful to the Vancouver Foundation and the Province for this generous grant. It will provide us with crucial resources to further Kinsight’s work in creating affordable, accessible and inclusive housing options that welcome all people,” says Christine Scott, CEO of Kinsight.
“Most of the families and individuals we support share a common goal – to live as independently as possible in a community that is welcoming and affordable,” Scott notes. “This funding will help turn that dream into reality by supporting our efforts to collaborate on the development of long-term housing strategies.”
In addition to housing, Kinsight will use funds to advance family leadership – strengthening opportunities for families, youth and adults to shape their services and supports.
“This grant comes as Kinsight celebrates our 70th anniversary. The fund’s name – Lighthouse – is symbolic of the families who founded Kinsight in 1954, leading the way in enacting their vision for an inclusive community.”
The Vancouver Foundation’s Lighthouse Organizations Fund was created in 2023, and made possible through Stronger Community Services Fund from the Government of BC.
