Strengthening our Leadership Team: Meet our New Directors

In August, Kinsight welcomed two new Directors for Adult Services and Family, Children and Youth Services. The new Directors will be instrumental in ensuring our teams and the people we serve are supported as we grow and evolve our programs and services.

Please join us in welcoming Deana Kanagasingam, Director of Family, Children, and Youth Services (pictured left), and Nicole Allen, Director of Adult Services (pictured right).

Nicole brings nearly 20 years of experience in the social services sector, with a strong focus on supporting individuals with disabilities and complex barriers. Most recently, she served as the Director of Employment and Disability Services and the Director of Service Delivery at Open Door Group, where she led operations across multiple regions and oversaw specialized employment and health services. Nicole began her career as a Recreation Therapist and has since advanced into senior leadership roles, supported by a Master’s degree in Executive Leadership. She is known for her strategic thinking, team leadership, and commitment to service excellence.

“I’m looking forward to working with a strong team to expand opportunities for people with disabilities and provide flexible, person-centered services. For me, the most important thing is collaborating to design services that evolve with people’s needs and leave a lasting, positive impact.”

Deana brings a rich background in health, combining clinical, operational, and academic experience. Her interdisciplinary training in health sciences, sociology, and critical disability theory grounds her work in trauma-informed care and social justice. She has worked across a range of areas – including substance use treatment, sexual health, Indigenous health, domestic violence prevention, and youth health promotion – always with a focus on improving outcomes for underserved populations. Most recently, Deana served as the Director of Operations and Services at Pacifica Treatment Centre.

“Children and families don’t exist in isolation. Their wellbeing is shaped by the supports they have, the challenges they face, and the world around them. What matters to me is making sure we see that bigger story, so our services reflect their whole reality.”

We are thrilled to have both Deana and Nicole join our leadership team.
