Fresh Air & Good Company: Highlights from our Summer Family Picnics

Summer is picnic season at Kinsight! Our New Westminster and Tri-Cities Children’s Centres, co-hosted with SHARE, brought together nearly 250 people across three events at Blue Mountain Park and Hume Park.

At Blue Mountain Park on June 9th, families painted pots, made flowers out of pipe cleaners, and tried out fun sports equipment. “The highlight for my team was seeing kids connect with each other! It was a chilly day, but the rain stopped just in time for the families to arrive and enjoy themselves,” shared Andrea Carlson, Coordinator of the CDBC/Key Worker Program.

The June 15th Hume Park gathering saw close to 100 attendees! They enjoyed a BBQ with hot dogs, giant bubbles, and painting.

On June 22nd, nearly 120 people joined us back at Blue Mountain Park for the TCCC Family Picnic. Families participated in a ring toss game and a dress-up photo booth, and enjoyed a visit from the Coquitlam Public Library’s mobile library truck along with a circle time story led by the librarian. “The baby area was a big hit,” shared Joey Lam, IDP Consultant. “We had to add another mat!”

We’re grateful to the Rotary Club of Coquitlam (lunch club), our supporter for the June 9th Youth & Family Picnic, as well as the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2 New Westminster for their support with the June 15th New Westminster Children’s Centre picnic.
